Chris, Brendan, and James

Hi. Welcome to our web site about the Champaign County Board and District 9. Look for this site to come to life in the coming weeks as a new term begins in December 2010.

The Champaign County Board has 27 members from nine 3-member districts. We are your three representatives in District 9.

James Quisenberry

James has lived in Champaign County for over 20 years and was elected to the board in November 2010.  He lives southeast Urbana with his wife, Jill, a teacher in the Urbana School District, and his son, Will.  He currently works for Housing at the University of Illinois.  He worked previously for the University of Illinois on the PLATO project and then spent 14 years as a technology manager in the private sector.

In the public sector, James served on both the Urbana Free Library and Lincoln Trail Library System boards.  He is active in non-profit organizations, currently a member of Urbana Rotary and serving on the CU Schools Foundation.  He was previously active on the Orphuem Children’s Science Museum board.  A believer in strong community organizations, he has been active in the Southeast Urbana Neighboorhood Assocation, the Champaign Downtown Association and is currently volunteering with the Urbana School District 116 stategic planning project.

Chris Alix

Chris was elected to the County Board in November, 2010.  He previously served on the Urbana Community Development Commission (1997-1999), the Urbana Plan Commission (1999-2004), the Urbana City Council (appointed to unexpired term, 2005) and the Urbana & Champaign Sanitary District Board of Trustees (2005-2010).  Chris has lived in the Champaign-Urbana area since 1984 and in south Urbana since 1995.  A 1988 Illinois Engineering graduate, he has technical and management experience in both the public and private sectors.  Since 1997 he has run Prairie City Computing, Inc., an Urbana-based consulting firm specializing in electronic design and software development.

Brendan McGinty

Brendan was elected to the County Board in 2004, where he has served as Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Chair of the Labor committee, and has served on the Policy, Personnel, and Appointments Committee and the Environment and Land Use Committee. He also served on the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation Board and is the most recent past Chair. Brendan attended Urbana schools, Parkland College, and the University of Illinois. After seven years away from the area, he returned in 1993 and has since been an executive or owner in several education and technology companies. Brendan is currently Manager of Education Technology at Carle Foundation Hospital. More information about Brendan can be found here.
